Government-Led Participatory Redevelopment in Ludancun

This chapter examines the power relations among the principal stakeholders—the local government, affected residents and developers—in a government-led redevelopment project. Section 4.2 introduces the case study project. Section 4.3 analyses the social practices and evolving power relations throughout the redevelopment process. Section 4.2 discusses the impacts of exogenous influences, while Section 4.5 identifies the effects of endogenous influences. Section 4.6 presents the spatial and social outcomes of the redevelopment and evaluates the associated power relations. Section 4.7 concludes the chapter.
