Healthcare is an important issue for human well-being. It involves the identification and treatment of diseases. Biosensors are devices capable of identifying chemical species in living organisms or biomolecules in a medium or environment. In this chapter, we explore the vital role of biosensors in healthcare, highlighting their roles in early diagnosis and treatment. In research and medical applications, biosensors provide exceptional value by enhancing disease detection and health monitoring. Integration of these devices into healthcare enables medical professionals to detect biomarker traces, facilitating timely interventions and improving diagnostic accuracy. In addition, this chapter highlights the fundamental concepts and operating principles of different biosensors and recent advances in the development of highly sensitive biosensors. These innovations employ advanced designs and innovative nanomaterials to detect viral and bacterial infections and to diagnose neurological and hormonal disorders.
