Research on Construction Period-Quality Optimization of Urban Intersection Traffic Improvement Based on Critical Chain

As the key node of the road network, the urban intersection is the area where traffic congestion and accidents occur frequently. Its traffic efficiency and safety are significantly restricted by factors such as geometric structure, spatial location characteristics and surrounding infrastructure configuration. For the traffic improvement project of this kind of intersection, the construction period is often delayed and the quality control is difficult due to the lack of design constraints and multi-disciplinary cross-construction coordination. This paper takes the traffic improvement project of a plane intersection in W city as a case, introduces the key chain project management technology, constructs the optimization model for the dual objectives of construction period and quality, and implements the buffer monitoring mechanism. The results show that after optimization, the total duration of the project is shortened by 14.37 days compared with the original plan, with a significant decrease. The optimization scheme effectively guarantees the quality of the project, promotes the early opening of the intersection, and plays a key role in improving the traffic efficiency and traffic safety of the intersection.
