Scheduling and Routing Optimization of Bridging Buses under the Interruption of Metro Hub Stations

The malfunction of metro hub stations will bring great passenger transport pressure to the operation of the transportation network. After a subway station malfunctions and the lines are disrupted, bus bridging is the main method to evacuate stranded passengers. Therefore, we propose a multi-destination bus bridging strategy that considers passengers’ transfer demands and realizes the functions of the original stations through bus bridging. The existing bus routes were classified by type based on the distance between the bus route stops and the bridging points, and the “evacuation one stop in advance” strategy was proposed. Fine-tuning was made based on the existing bus routes to achieve passenger bridging. With the optimization objective of minimizing the total delay of ordinary passengers and stranded passengers, a bus bridging and route optimization model for multi-destination transfer is constructed to solve and obtain the operation plan. Simulation results demonstrate that this approach efficiently redistributes passengers and enhances network resilience during metro hub interruptions.
