The Spatio-Temporal Integrated Optimization Design of Intersections Based on Left-Turn Widening

As a key node of the urban road network, the operation efficiency of the intersection directly determines the service level of the urban road network, and how to achieve the maximum traffic efficiency in the limited road space has become a major difficulty in the current research. Based on the widening of the left-turn lane, this paper constructs a spatio-temporal integration optimization design model of signalized intersection with traffic capacity and average vehicle delay as the optimization index, and uses MATLAB software to solve the optimization model, and the research results show that the average vehicle delay of the optimized intersection is reduced by 20.7% and the left-turn queue length is shortened by 13.3 m. The model can effectively improve the overall traffic efficiency of intersections, reduce the traffic delay of intersections, and have certain reference significance for the systematic improvement of intersections.
