摘要

The stress state in the earth’s crust is a long-known and relevant issue among geologists. The topic is of interest due to the study of tectonic plate movements, underground building activity, mining, and development of hydrocarbon reservoirs. This paper is focused on reconstruction of the trajectories of the principal stresses in Sakhalin Island region, which is one of the seismically active regions of the Earth, characterized by limited heterogeneous data on in situ stresses from various sources. This paper contains an analysis of the available data and their grouping necessary to overcome the strong heterogeneity in depth and location where the measurements were taken. We also compare data taken from different sources and draw a conclusion about their agreement. Our results can be used to improve the efficiency of coal and oil-and-gas field development or to predict seismic hazards.
