The Evolution of Digital Identity in the European Union—From eIDAS to the EU Digital Identity Wallet
摘要
This chapter examines the development of digital identity in the European Union (EU), highlighting the evolution from the 2014 eIDAS regulation to the recent EU Digital Identity Wallet. While the eIDAS regulation initially aimed to establish a secure and interoperable digital identity framework across EU Member States, the EU Digital Identity Wallet promises to enhance user control, privacy, and interoperability. Therefore, by exploring this evolution, this chapter aims to cover the EU’s commitment to secure, privacy-respecting digital transformation.
