Conclusion

When we sat down to discuss the scope of the book, we asked ourselves the following questions: why has the EU been given this much power to regulate and govern digital? How did this happen, and what lessons can we draw from it for the European project as a whole? How could EU institutions have adopted so many digital policies in the last ten years? The chapters that preceded this final one have been trying to address these issues, offering an in-depth overview of thematic areas as well as initiatives to defend and internationalise a “digital rulebook” based on European values.
