EU Digital Policy in Multilateral Fora

  • Fabian Delcros

摘要

This chapter explores the European Union’s proactive engagement in multilateral fora to advance its digital policy objectives globally, reflecting its commitment to a rules-based digital order. The EU leverages its regulatory framework and the single market to shape international digital standards that prioritise privacy, security, and human rights. It outlines EU participation in key fora like the G7 G20. WTO and OECD, where it faces competing digital regulatory models from the United States and China. EU efforts, including the promotion of Data Free Flow with Trust (DFFT) and a collaborative approach to artificial intelligence governance, reflect its aim to align international rules with European values. Through these initiatives, the EU seeks to solidify its role as a global standard-setter in digital governance amid a rapidly evolving geopolitical and technological landscape.
