High-Power Short-Wave Strong Electromagnetic Pulse Suppression Technology

Shortwave radio is an important equipment for military wireless communication. The shortwave signal emitted by the shortwave radio can achieve the goal of long-distance communication through multiple reflections between the ground and the ionosphere. With the demand for military radio long-distance communication, kW-level high-power shortwave radios are becoming more and more common. Shortwave radio are susceptible to the threat of Lighting ElectroMagnetic Pulses (LEMP) and Nuclear ElectroMagnetic Pulses(NEMP), causing military communication interruptions. Studying the strong electromagnetic pulses suppression technology of short wave can provide strong support for the Short radio station. Combinig simulation models and consuming two aspects: transient and steady protection, this paper proposes a kW level-power protection method.A prototype of kW transmission power is developed. the result show that the insertion loss is less than 1 dB, the suppression ability for 10kA LEMP reaches 60 dB, and the suppression ability for 1kA NEMP reaches 40Db.This suppressor can effectively protect militaryShort radio station which is of great engineering significance.
