摘要

During the evolutionary journey, honey bees have shown an intimate relationship with host or flowering plants and have become the most important pollinators of wild and crop plants of the terrestrial ecosystem. So, the information on nest variation, nectar or pollen preferences of foraging honey bees and host plant range is, therefore, imperative to increase the honey production to keep pace with public demand. This chapter was conducted to determine the parameters of paramount importance of genus Apis from Tumakuru, Karnataka, India. This chapter presents an account of three species of genus Apis viz. Apis dorsata, Apis florea and Apis mellifera with reference to nest variation, foraging preference and host plant range.
