Introduction

This chapter introduces engineering hydrology, a geophysical branch supporting projects for river and ocean resource utilization, widely used in water conservancy, transportation, etc. Critical for port and waterway engineers, it covers river/coastal hydrology, data observation/analysis. This textbook has seven chapters, excluding some content taught in other courses, with research methods combining causal and statistical approaches, plus emerging tools.
