Preparing Teachers for STEM Education in the Age of AI: A Literature and Projects Review Within the Slovenian Educational Context

摘要

Slovenian primary, secondary, and higher education. By combining a systematic review with case studies, we explore teacher/student engagement with text-based tools (e.g. ChatGPT) and their impact on learning. There is evidence of the benefits of personalization, content creation, feedback, and administrative efficiency, but also of the risks of academic misconduct, bias, and the erosion of critical thinking. Teacher preparation is key: educators are eager but cautious about promoting responsible use without crowding out cognitive and socio-emotional skills. Slovenian initiatives—including SETCOM and GEN UI—offer promising training and management models. We distil practical guidelines that position GenAI as a supportive tool rather than a shortcut, reinforcing inquiry-based science, mathematical modeling, engineering design, and computational thinking. The chapter concludes with recommendations for scaled professional development, longitudinal evaluation, and clear, equity-focused policies for ethical adoption.
