Advanced bipolar devices represent a significant advancement over conventional bipolar electrosurgery, offering precise, feedback-controlled energy delivery for reliable vessel sealing and tissue division. By continuously monitoring tissue impedance and modulating energy output, these systems achieve effective fusion of collagen and elastin with minimal lateral thermal spread. Their ability to seal vessels up to 5–7 mm and integrate cutting functions enhances efficiency, particularly in laparoscopic surgery where precision and reduced instrument exchange are critical. This chapter provides an overview of the principles, advantages, and safe handling of advanced bipolar technologies, with focused discussion on commonly used platforms.
