Future Directions in Disability Research
摘要
A growing global attention toward the rights of disabled citizens and their inclusion compels focused research that is correspondingly commensurate with the fast-evolving landscape of disability practices, technologies, and policies. Disability cannot be a singular concept; rather, it is an enormous, complex domain that includes a series of sectoral interests, varying diagnostic or impairment groups (spinal cord trauma, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, or autism), and numerous life conditions (such as housing, education, employment, health, justice, and citizenship) (Shakespeare, 2015). Disability policy is no less expansive, branching over issues of the broader community, e.g., health, housing, and technology. Therefore, any effort at mapping this area and formulating a future research agenda must equally be comprehensive and of the community it is meant to serve (Llewellyn & Emerson, 2021).
