Disability Studies has undergone a significant transformation and is no longer traditional, medical, and charity-related aspects toward rights-based and inclusive approach. This change places more emphasis on empowerment, respect, and active participation of people with disabilities as complete members of the society. The attempts to facilitate inclusion in the areas of education, employment, health, and the administration have changed the perspective of social accessibility and justice drastically in the society. These changes are in tandem with principles of international human rights. Significant legislative interventions, in particular, the introduction of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) and the creation of analogous national regulations, have played a key role in introducing regulations concerning equal access, antidiscrimination, inclusive education, and comprehensive social support. However, the actual progress in the world remains restrained by achieving a successful implementation of the policies, maintaining effective oversight and addressing the intersectionality problems faced by people who are at the cross-section of multiple marginalized groups in the overall population of disabled people. Disability Studies is expanding its boundaries with new developments such as the use of assistive technologies, access to digital information, community-based projects, and the involvement of the community in the policy-making process. This paper, offers critical examination of how the rights of people with disabilities have advanced over the years and achieved milestones and failures on a legislative and policy level. It emphasizes the necessity of continuous reform, cooperation between different stakeholders, and the need to implement context-related strategies to have a more inclusive and sustainable future.

This change places more emphasis on empowerment, respect, and active participation of people with disabilities as complete members of the society. The attempts to facilitate inclusion in the areas of education, employment, health, and the administration have changed the perspective of social accessibility and justice drastically in the society.
