Post Fire Mechanical Properties of Butt Weld Subjected to Elevated Temperature
摘要
Welds are commonly used in welding applications to join two pieces of metal at an angle, typically a right angle for fillet weld and end-to-end connection for butt weld. In this study, mechanical behavior of butt weld for 250-grade mild steel subjected to elevated temperature was presented. When subjected to elevated temperature, the behavior of welds can change, and it is important to understand how temperature affects their mechanical properties such as yield stress, ultimate stress, and strain. In this study, butt welds are subjected to elevated temperature of 600 °C and it is subjected to air cooling to attain room temperature and finally loaded until failure load is reached, the ultimate tensile strength was found, and it was compared with the controlled specimen.
