Design of Lightning Protection System in Zhuhai-Hong Kong-Macao Bridge

Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HKZMB) is located in a lightning prone area, and lightning protection design is particularly important. This article introduces the lightning protection design plan of the HHZMB, based on its own structural characteristics and special geographical location. The key design includes determining the lightning protection class, direct lightning protection, flank lightning protection, induced lightning protection, and equipotential connection. The lightning protection plan has been in operation for some years and has played a good protective effect, efficiently ensuring the safety of the HKZMB. The methods in this lightning protection design plan can provide some references for the lightning protection design of other buildings.
