Hemipelvis Resection Type I, II & III
摘要
Resection of the entire hemipelvis is an uncommon procedure. It is mainly done in extensive marrow infiltration of Ewing’s sarcoma, though it may also be needed in other malignant tumours. The sacroiliac joint and symphysis pubis are used as the anatomical bony boundaries for oncological clearance. Understanding oncological boundaries of the entire pelvis and careful evaluation of preoperative MRI staging is mandatory to achieve local clearance. Neo-adjuvant treatment with chemotherapy and local adjuvant radiotherapy further improves the chances for local control.
