Forequarter amputation is a surgical procedure for removal of the upper extremity together with the scapula en bloc. It is an amputation for malignant tumours around the shoulder not suitable for limb salvage surgery. Indications mainly include large sarcoma with poor response to chemotherapy, recurrent disease or sarcoma displacing or infiltrating the subclavian vessels and brachial plexus in which achieving oncological margin with limb salvage surgery is not possible.
