Introduction to Disability Care in Major Depressive Disorder
摘要
Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a prevalent mental condition that significantly impacts everyday functioning. This chapter discusses disability care in Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), with a focus on the bio-psycho-social aspects that impact deficits in emotional regulation, cognition, movement, work performance, and social interaction. Disability theories from the medical, social, and recovery-based spheres are examined, along with diagnostic features and functional limitations. In addition to discussing culturally safe, trauma-informed, and person-centered treatment, this article delves into concrete strategies to assist with day-to-day tasks, psychological and social rehabilitation, workplace engagement, and emergency preparedness. Caretakers, rights-based methods, anti-stigma, and interdisciplinary collaboration are major themes throughout the chapter. It is believed that digital and assistive technology may help people become more independent, more integrated into their communities, and more accessible. The chapter emphasizes that providing high-quality, comprehensive assistance for MDD includes caring for individuals with impairments.
