Conclusion: Labour Crossings in Uncertain Times
摘要
This chapter concludes the monograph and discusses uncertainties in cross-border mobility, including skilled labour migration. It underscores that Vietnamese nationals are expanding their presence in Japan’s foreign labour migrant population, while Japanese intermediaries search for other labour supply countries in Asia. The first section explains how this book positions itself in the literature on migration infrastructure and economic sociology to study an emerging cross-border labour market (i.e. Japan and Vietnam). The second section emphasises the study’s empirical findings. The third section presents several interviews conducted after the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting how the broker continues to be present in the transnational labour market. The fourth section considers the brokerage after the pandemic and explores further research areas. The last section concludes with a prognosis on the transnational labour market in question.
