A Qualitative Study on the Application and Evaluation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in Smart Green City Development

摘要

This study examines the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in developing Smart Green Cities (SGCs), focusing on the integration of sustainability, smart technologies, and efficient urban planning. Using Autodesk Revit, a 3D BIM model was developed for an SGC, incorporating residential structures, topography, and GIS data. The research demonstrates BIM’s potential to enhance urban planning through improved visualisation, system integration, and centralised data management, while also addressing challenges related to cost, interoperability, and technical expertise. Key findings show that integrating BIM with GIS supports real-time spatial planning and data-driven decisions, enhancing the environmental and operational sustainability of Smart Green Cities. However, the lack of advanced analyses—such as CO₂ simulations and energy performance assessments—limits its current applicability. The study highlights the model’s interoperability, enabling future applications like 4D scheduling, energy analysis, and digital twins. It contributes to sustainable urban development by offering a foundational model and outlining BIM’s potential and limitations in building SGCs.
