A Proof of Concept for the Exchange of Dynamic Building Operational Data Based on IFC Using Linked Data and Time Series Databases
摘要
The exchange of data generated during the operations and maintenance (O&M) phase is often impeded by non-transparent data structures, the absence of standardized exchange formats, and inadequate data quality. Although BIM is widely adopted in the design and construction phases, its utilization in O&M remains restricted. Operational data, especially energy-related information, are inherently dynamic and frequently exchanged via proprietary systems, resulting in data loss due to limited interoperability. This research explores how operational data can be generated, processed, and exchanged using an IFC-based building model in conjunction with a Linked Data approach. A proof of concept (PoC) was developed based on a literature review and implemented to evaluate the feasibility of integrating graph and time series databases. This integration enables the efficient storage, retrieval, and management of dynamic data. The prototype showcases the integration of a graph-based building model representation with a time series database for managing dynamic operational data. Time series data were successfully integrated, processed, and subsequently exported back into the IFC format. This method enables the vendor-independent exchange of digital building models, incorporating both static and dynamic operational data. This PoC facilitates a standardized and efficient exchange of dynamic operational data in Facility Management (FM), minimizing dependence on proprietary solutions. It improves data interoperability, transparency and quality among stakeholders, thereby fostering more effective collaboration in FM.
