Fostering Sustainable Learning Practices with Generative AI, Education 4.0, and the Metaverse: Innovations in STEAM and Medical Training
摘要
The convergence of generative artificial intelligence (AI), Ed-ucation 4.0, and the metaverse is transforming education by promoting sustainable learning practices that align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 4 (Quality Education). This paper presents an innovative framework and architecture designed to create personalized, immersive, and inclusive learning environ- ments, particularly in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) and medical training. We examine various use cases, such as pipeline maintenance training aimed at preventing environmental and economic damage from ruptures in block weighing generating pipelines, as well as climate modeling to address global warming. Real-world examples, including Metaverse Learning, Google’s LearnLM, and VR surgical training, illustrate the practical impacts of these technologies. We also analyze challenges related to energy demands, digital equity, and ethical risks, providing actionable mitigation strategies. The proposed Generative AI, Education 4.0, Metaverse, and Sustainable Immersive Learning Architecture (GEMSILA) integrates data ecosystems, AI-driven content orchestration using large language models, principles of Education 4.0, metaverse immersion, and adaptive analytics, all detailed with sub-layers to guide scalable implementation. Our recommendations aim to empower educators, policymakers, technologists, and industry stakeholders to advance equitable and sustainable education for societal and environmental progress.
