Translating the Iconicity of Classical Chinese Poetry and its Significance for the Development of Digital Poetry and Digital Humanities

The Chapter concludes by acknowledging that, despite certain affinities between English digital poetry and classical Chinese poetry, the two ultimately constitute distinct poetic forms. The former is a product of advanced digital technologies, whereas the latter derives more directly from the immediacy of human inspiration. Consequently, bridging the conceptual and aesthetic gap between these two modes of poetic expression demands substantial effort from both digital poets and scholarly researchers. This conclusion further underscores the broader significance of this research for the development of the digital humanities. In particular, it highlights the contributions of the study from the perspectives of materiality, aesthetic experience, and the translational paradigms that illuminate the relationship between digital poetics and ancient Chinese poetic traditions.
