Field Test of Liner Hanger Recompletion and Volumetric Refracturing Technology in an Old Horizontal Well

The CP2 well is a horizontal oil well originally completed with 5½″ casing cementing. Its initial reservoir stimulation employed hydraulic jetting staged multi-cluster fracturing technology. After over ten years of production, the liquid production has decreased significantly with increasing water cut. To fully exploit reservoir potential, enhance stimulated reservoir volume, and replenish formation energy, a liner hanger cementing method was implemented to reconstruct the wellbore, followed by large-scale volume fracturing for secondary stimulation. This approach aims to effectively mobilize well-controlled reserves and improve recovery rates. The secondary completion involved running 4½″ slim casing with resin cementing technology, utilizing an expandable hanger to suspend the liner above the kickoff point. Post wellbore reconstruction, volume fracturing with high-rate, high-proppant-volume, and high-fluid-volume operations was conducted through open casing using bridge plug and perforation (Plug & Perf) technology. The successful implementation of this integrated process in CP2 well provides valuable references for re-stimulation of mature horizontal wells in oilfields, demonstrating promising application prospects.
