Wind-Based Electric Vehicle Charging: A Technique for Improved Performance in Variable Wind Conditions

摘要

This work looks at a creative charging plan for electric vehicles (EVs) based on wind energy, meant to operate effectively under changing wind conditions. To increase energy extraction from a wind turbine with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG), a modified Perturb & Observe Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithm is used. Assuming an initial State of Charge of 50%, the system enables seamless and efficient charging of the electric car battery using a Boost DC-DC converter. Key indicators such as available charging power, charging duration and the impact of wind variability on the whole charging process are evaluated in this paper, which investigates the charging performance over several wind speeds. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed wind-sourced EV charging technique are thoroughly evaluated using detailed simulations in the MATLAB-SIMULINK environment.
