Research and Application of Characteristics of High-Pressure and High-Speed Mechanical Seals

摘要

For large-diameter mechanical seals, it is challenging to realize both high pressure and high rotational speed simultaneously, often resulting in a trade-off between the two. In this paper, by constructing the geometric model of mechanical seals, qualitative analysis and quantitative calculation were performed on the specific pressure of the end face of large-diameter mechanical seals under high pressure and high rotational speed conditions. The influencing factors on the performance of large-diameter mechanical seals under such circumstances were analyzed, followed by parameter optimization and experimental verification. The results revealed that the spring specific pressure, the balance ratio and the relative rotational speed of the sealing surface were the principal influencing factors. The experimental results demonstrated that when the sealing diameter was 76.2 mm and the sealing pressure reached 35 MPa, with the spring specific pressure set at 0.24 MPa and the balance ratio designed as 1.3, the rotational speed could attain 100 r/min, and the sealing surface exhibited excellent and stable sealing performance. This achievement has been successfully applied on site, providing a reference basis and application value for the reliability design of mechanical seals.
