ADHD and Mental Health Comorbidities
摘要
This chapter introduces the intersections between attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and mental health comorbidities. It addresses the implications for holistic healthcare needs related to co-occurring psychiatric disorders and the challenges of concurrent mental health conditions. It tells the challenges of individuals who experience ADHD alongside anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns, illustrating the impact on daily functioning and overall well-being. The chapter also describes integrated care models applied to ADHD and comorbid conditions, such as multidisciplinary interventions and tailored treatment strategies. Both common and less common comorbidities affect the emotional, cognitive, and social dimensions of individuals with ADHD. Reflective exercises guide you to consider how you will be able to promote mental health and well-being, and minimize the challenges associated with ADHD and its comorbid conditions, to individuals and communities in practice contexts.
