Conclusion and Discussion About Tripartite Cooperation

This research examined Chinese tripartite cooperation projects within the realm of economic infrastructure, with a specific focus on the transportation and energy sectors. Its primary contribution lies in enhancing the understanding of tripartite cooperation in infrastructure projects by systematically exploring the motivations behind such collaborations and analysing the changes in transaction costs and additional benefits. The research sought to address the following critical questions: Why do participants opt for a tripartite cooperation model even though they have to potentially bear the additional transaction costs? What are the determinants for countries and/or firms to engage in tripartite cooperation, and how do their actions within the tripartite model reshape project finance activities? How does the involvement of a third partner bring additional benefits, complexities, and challenges in infrastructure and construction projects? This concluding chapter will synthesise the key findings, discuss their theoretical and practical implications, and offer recommendations for future research.
