Research on Regenerative Braking Flywheel Energy Storage system of DEMU

The electric braking of Diesel Electrical Multiple Units (DEMU) adopts resistance braking at present, and the regenerative braking energy mainly transmits to the atmosphere in the form of heat radiation, braking energy has not een effectively used. The regenerative braking flywheel energy storage of DEMU is proposed in this article, this system can store the energy and feedback by electric energy. The principle and parameter calculation of the regenerative braking flywheel energy storage system for DEMU are given, which can meet the requirements of replacing resistance braking to achieve regenerative electric braking.
