Traditional AutoML systems operate within rigidly defined search spaces where a human expert must enumerate which hyperparameters to tune, which architectures to consider, and which preprocessing steps to apply. This manual specification creates a fundamental bottleneck since the quality of the discovered solution is bounded by the creativity and foresight of the search space designer.
