Bioproducts as a Renewable Source for Nanofertilizer Development

The rising demand for sustainable agricultural practices has intensified interest in the development of nanofertilizers derived from renewable sources. This paper explores the potential of bioproducts organic materials sourced from agricultural residues, microbial biomass, and plant-based polymers as eco-friendly and sustainable precursors for nanofertilizer production. Bioproducts not only serve as nutrient-rich substrates but also act as natural carriers and encapsulating agents, facilitating controlled nutrient release and improving plant nutrient uptake efficiency. Utilizing green synthesis techniques, these bioproducts offer an environmentally responsible alternative to conventional chemical fertilizers, reducing issues such as nutrient leaching, soil degradation, and water pollution. Despite challenges such as variability in raw materials, scalability, and regulatory uncertainties, the integration of bioproduct-based nanofertilizers with smart farming systems and circular economy principles holds significant promise. This study highlights the role of bioproducts in revolutionizing nanofertilizer development and contributing to the future of sustainable and resilient agriculture.
