Therapeutic Communication and Therapeutic Relationship
摘要
In psychiatric nursing, therapeutic communication is a cornerstone of effective nursing practice, building a foundation of trust and collaboration between patient and nurse, especially in psychiatric wards where patients exhibit aggressive and non-cooperative behavior. It begins with the idea of the therapeutic use of self as a tool for diagnosing mental disorders. This chapter focuses on how empathetic behavior from nurses help patients in improving relaxation, motivation, and their clinical outcomes. This chapter highlights key techniques of therapeutic communication that would make interaction more effective and meaningful, while also addressing barriers and strategies to overcome them. By combining these ideas, this chapter provides clear guidance for nurses to foster caring, supportive relationships that improve patient well-being and promote positive outcomes in psychiatric nursing practice.
