Digital Technologies for Construction Safety in Developing Nations: Emerging Research Trends and Future Directions
摘要
Digital Technologies (DT) are being integrated into construction processes to minimise risks and improve workers’ safety. Nevertheless, despite DT’s potential, its adoption in developing nations remains limited. Hence, this study explores the research focus on digital technologies for construction safety in developing nations through a bibliometric analysis of articles indexed in the Scopus database. The keywords adopted for the search were (“digital AND technologies”) AND (“construction AND safety”) AND (“developing AND countries” OR “developing AND nations” OR “developing AND economies” OR “emerging AND economies”). Subsequently, the VOSviewer software was adopted to examine and visualise keyword co-occurrences based on the bibliographic data. The results reveal that five research clusters reflect the emerging trends in digital technologies for construction safety in developing nations. These clusters include digital innovation, digital health and safety, safety policy, sustainable risk management, and worker safety technologies. The study concludes that no research considers aligning digital technologies with the informal labour markets and the indigenous safety practices prevalent in developing nations. Thus, addressing this gap could enhance the practical application of digital technologies for construction safety in these regions.
