Energy Adaptation and Climate Vulnerabilities in South Asia: A Tale of Three Nations

This chapter makes a comparative systematic evaluation of how India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are reshaping their energy structures in the context of intensifying climate extremes specifically, heat waves and floods. All three nations have shared climatic vulnerabilities but divergent governance structures, technological capacities and policy regimes. Pakistan’s 2022 super floods, Bangladesh’s cyclone-responsive micro grids, India’s Ahmedabad Heat Action Plan are employed to illustrate how adaptability, investment hierarchy, and adaptive innovation shape resilience outcomes. This chapter wraps with actionable avenues for South Asian energy planners with an emphasis on regional knowledge flows to expedite scalable, equitable, and climate-resilient transitions. It argues that cooperative strategic learning is not just a good idea but it’s a only way forward strategy in the era of climate disruption.
