Artificial intelligence has gained wide acceptance through its potential in revolutionizing the aspects of modern society. Innovation in domain of AI has widened its application in education, entertainment, finance, manufacturing, retail, customer support, transport, environment, agriculture and healthcare. On a global scale, medical providers are constantly confronting prominent and often immutable challenges such as security, efficacy and effectiveness in providing physician and administrative services to patients. To decisively address these and other healthcare concerns, the (WHO) World Health Organization suggested the complete implementation of artificial intelligence. On this note, the current chapter aims at presenting the state-of-the-art AI’s advancements in assisting healthcare officials to improve patient diagnosis, treatment and monitoring. Moreover, it provides a complete review of AI’s clinical applications by analysing recent literature studies divided into medical specialties. Key areas such as virtual patient care, patient engagement and adherence, diagnostic imaging, AI-assisted treatment and surgery and research and drug development for social well-being, is discussed in the section. It also emphasizes the challenges and ethical considerations preventing artificial intelligence being fully integrated into therapeutic settings.
