DNS Support
摘要
Chapter 7 examines the role of Domain Name System (DNS) extensions in enabling IPv4 and IPv6 interoperability through DNS64 and DNS46. These protocols synthesize AAAA records from A records (DNS64) or A records from AAAA records (DNS46), addressing compatibility challenges during network transitions. The chapter outlines their technical specifications, response processing mechanisms, and deployment strategies, emphasizing their importance in bridging IPv4-only and IPv6-only environments. It also discusses conflicts between DNS64/DNS46 operations and DNSSEC (DNS Security Extensions), which relies on authenticated records, and proposes practical trade-offs to balance functionality and security.
