Address Mapping

This chapter examines the critical role of addressing in Internet architecture by analyzing IPv4 and IPv6 address structures and their interoperability. It presents a stateless mapping algorithm to facilitate bidirectional mapping between IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Key components include IPv4-embedded IPv6 address formats, generalized modulo-based algorithms, and encoding techniques for address suffixes and prefixes. By bridging theoretical foundations with practical implementation strategies, the chapter offers insights into optimizing address allocation, ensuring backward compatibility, and supporting scalable network designs.
