Chapter 10 addresses stateless double translation and encapsulation technologies, critical for maintaining IPv4 interoperability during the transition to IPv6. These solutions mitigate challenges such as address embedding in applications and ensure seamless connectivity in hybrid network environments. The chapter focuses on two stateless double translation methods—dIVI and MAP-T—and the stateless encapsulation approach MAP-E. The dIVI and MAP-T support flexible deployment, adapting to single translation scenarios as IPv6 adoption progresses, with dIVI optimized for enterprise/campus networks and MAP-T for residential broadband. MAP-E, while preserving IPv4 datagram headers, caters to home networks but lacks full IPv6-only transition capability.
