Quality Evaluation Methods and Applications for Reprocessed 3D Seismic Data

Reprocessing legacy 3D seismic data is a crucial technique for maximizing data value in petroleum exploration and production. The quantitative/qualitative evaluation of reprocessing effectiveness in complex structural belts remains a longstanding challenge in seismic data quality assessment. Seismic data quality directly impacts the accuracy of sub-sequent seismic interpretation, reservoir characterization, exploration decisions, and ultimately, field development success. This study uses 3D seismic data from block A in the Sanshui Basin as a case study to develop and optimize an evaluation workflow for reprocessed seismic data. This workflow provides a practical reference template for the subsequent evaluation of similar reprocessing projects. The evaluation results demonstrate a significant improvement in the quality of the 3D seismic data in block A after reprocessing, with increased reliability in fault and structural interpretations. The consistency between actual drilling results and reservoir predictions increased from 75% before re-processing to 87% after, further validating the reliability of the reprocessing results.
