Lyapunov Stability Theory
摘要
The development of Lyapunov theory marks a significant milestone in the field of nonlinear control design and analysis. Before the emergence of Lyapunov theory, analyzing the stability of nonlinear systems was challenging due to the difficulty in solving nonlinear differential equations. While some methods, such as the phase plane analysis, existed for a limited class of nonlinear systems, there was no uniform method to determine the stability of nonlinear systems. This highlights the necessity for a systematic approach, such as the Lyapunov theory, which not only provides insights into system stability (both in the neighborhood of equilibrium points and limit cycles) but also offers a foundation for designing effective control strategies.
