Current Energy Use in Urban Residential Buildings

The urban residential buildings discussed in this book refer to those located in urban and town areas. Urban areas denote districts within municipal jurisdictions or cities without district divisions, including residents’ committees and other zones where the urban construction of district or municipal government administrative centers extends. Town areas refer to county government administrative centers outside urban areas, as well as other towns, encompassing residents’ committees and other zones where the urban construction of town government administrative centers extends. The energy use of residential buildings refers to the energy consumed by residents from air conditioning, heating (i.e., distributed heating, excluding central heating in northern urban areas), cooking, DHW, lighting, and household appliances to meet the demands of living, studying, and resting. The main energy sources are electricity and gas. With the rapid adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in recent years, EV charging points in urban residential compounds have been integrated into residential building distribution systems. This trend has led to the inclusion of EV charging point analysis in this book.
