While biodiesel is recognized as a sustainable and cleaner substitute for fossil diesel, the limitation lies in the selection and optimization of suitable biomassBiomass feedstocksBiomass feedstock. The variability in feedstock availability, cost, and conversion efficiency presents a major challenge in scaling up biodiesel production. This chapter addresses the gap by exploring a wide range of biomassBiomass feedstocksBiomass feedstock categorized into animal-based and plant-based sources. Furthermore, it discusses critical extraction techniques of lipids from feedstocks, followed by biodiesel production methods such as pyrolysisPyrolysis, transesterificationTransesterification, microemulsion, and dilution. By evaluating the compatibility of different feedstocks with these techniques, the chapter offers insights into improving biodiesel yield, quality, and economic viability. Ultimately, the chapter positions biodieselBiodiesel derived from diverse biomassBiomass sources as a practical solution to current energy and environmental challenges.
