High Accuracy Traceability Standard for Large Torque

The first high-torque standard machine in China and the first torque calibration and testing laboratory in China were established at the Shanghai Ship Equipment Research Institute in 1977 and 1987 respectively. At present, the torque standard machines used for traceability of large torque sensors are mainly high-precision torque standard machines with self-weight structures. This paper introduces the demand for high-torque sensor measurement and testing in China’s industrial system, the current development status of torque measurement technology at home and abroad, as well as the future development prospects of national torque measurement standards. Meanwhile, the structure of the standard static heavy-duty high-torque standard machine was analyzed, involving indicators such as the basic principle, overall structure, core components, measurement range, and accuracy distribution. The source, model, composition, structure, and extension of the measurement uncertainty of this standard machine were mainly studied. In addition, this article also introduces the norms, methods, data processing and conclusion determination for conducting international comparisons in accordance with international comparison guidelines in the absence of a national benchmark facility for large torque in China, to ensure the rationality and legality of facility traceability. This article provides a platform for torque measurement and testing professionals to gain a deeper understanding of the development of domestic and international torque standards, in order to establish torque standards with Chinese characteristics, catch up with the international leading level, and meet the torque traceability requirements of China’s power, wind power, gas turbine and other industries.
