Best Practices and Innovations: Boosting Covid-19 Vaccination Uptake in Indian States and Union Territories

The Covid-19 pandemic necessitated an unprecedented vaccination drive across India, prompting the central government, in collaboration with states and union territories (UTs), to implement innovative strategies for maximizing vaccine uptake. These efforts spanned five key domains: awareness generation, community involvement, inclusivity, mass vaccination, and expanded access. This chapter is trying to narrate some of the most effective measures adopted by Indian States and UTs to promote and facilitate vaccination among their residents. Through these dynamic and community-driven approaches, India’s community-driven approach in Covid-19 vaccination campaign not only achieved remarkable coverage but also set a precedent for future public health initiatives especially for large-scale immunization programs, emphasizing inclusivity, innovation, and grassroots engagement. By prioritizing inclusivity, innovation, and grassroots engagement, the country’s efforts serve as a model for large-scale immunization programs worldwide.
