The task of poverty alleviation relocation in Shaanxi Province basically completed, and the focus of work shifted from the infrastructure construction to follow-up support. Since the beginning of the 13th Five-year Plan period, Shaanxi Province achieved remarkable results in poverty alleviation relocation and shifted the focus of work from the infrastructure construction to follow-up support. To effectively address the issue of “prioritizing relocation over follow-up support” in poverty alleviation relocation and truly achieve the goal of “moving out smoothly, resettling, finding employment, and achieving prosperity”, the research team from School of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development at Renmin University of China, conducted a field study on typical cases of poverty alleviation relocation in Shaanxi Province from 25th July to 31st July, 2020 in accordance with the unified deployment of the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development. They selected Pingli County and Ziyang County as typical cases and conducted in-depth discussions with officials from the county Party committees and relevant government departments on the specific progress of the poverty alleviation relocation and the related follow-up support. Additionally, they conducted household surveys. Through reviewing relevant research literature on poverty alleviation relocation in Shaanxi Province, it was found that resettlement arrangement in Shaanxi Province has different impacts on livelihood adaptation strategies (Li, 2016) and livelihood vulnerability (Liu et al., 2018) of the relocated households, and there were some explorations on how to reduce multidimensional poverty vulnerability (Wang & Li, 2019). Based on what they learned, this chapter examines the follow-up support for poverty alleviation relocation in Shaanxi Province and introduces its implementation status, resettlement situation as well as its effectiveness. This Chapter illustrates typical cases and best practices in terms of community integration, industrial support and employment assistance.
