Introduction to Music Entrepreneurship

  • Mads Walther-Hansen

摘要

This chapter explores what music entrepreneurship means in practice, and why it matters for artists, students, and others working with music. It further outlines how entrepreneurial strategies can turn creative ideas into viable opportunities. Two issues run through the discussion: the variety of ways in which music creates value and the barriers and opportunities involved in realizing those ideas. Music is not simply a product that is made for consumption. It is a practice embedded in social, cultural, and personal contexts. Recognizing this broader perspective makes it easier to see forms of value that fall outside the familiar industry models. The chapter also addresses common assumptions about the music industry, arguing that the term reifies a fragmented and dynamic field and constructs unrealistic expectations about careers. Instead, the chapter argues for more iterative approaches based on intentional action and adaptability.
