The Development of Wushu in the Early Period of the People’s Republic of China
摘要
In September 1982, the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of China was convened, and the guiding ideology of the conference was Deng Xiaoping’s proposal to “building socialism with Chinese characteristics”. Taking advantage of this momentum, the 1st National Wushu Work Conference kicked off in Beijing in 1982. The conference discussed and arranged the current policies, measures, and tasks for Wushu work. Taking this as an opportunity, the Wushu undertaking of the People's Republic of China entered a new stage. This Wushu work conference was extremely important. Through this conference, a new situation emerged for Wushu, enabling it to play its due role in socialist construction.
